2010 Subaru Legacy

This latest Recall Roundup centers on 2010 and 2011 BMW 5 Series GTs and Subaru's 2010 and 2011 model year Legacy and Outback.

2010-2011 BMW 5 Series GT

The Problem: BMW noticed that the fuel level sensor on certain 5 Series GT models can become wedged against the tank, causing the fuel gauge to misread how much fuel is actually in the vehicle. If the problem occurs, the fuel gauge will read that there is a significant amount more fuel in the tank than there actually is, possibly causing a safety -- and convenience -- problem.

The Fix: As of now, BMW has not identified a course of action to correct this problem. The fix may simply be to replace the fuel level sensor or fuel tank. BMW will issue further information and recall notices once the company has a fix.

Number of Vehicles Affected: 6080 vehicles in North America.

2010-2011 Subaru Legacy and Outback

The Problem: Manual transmission models lack a port for transmission fluid, meaning that no transmission fluid can actually be added, should an owner notice a low fluid level. If the transmission fluid level is too low, the gears will begin to groan and eventually break, immobilizing the vehicle.

The Fix: Subaru will drill a lubrication port into each manual transmission equipped car to allow for transmission fluid refilling. Dealers will also inspect transmission internals and replace if necessary.

Number of Vehicles Affected: 809 vehicles in the U.S.
