The sexy RCZ coupe won't roll into Peugeot dealers for another week yet, but the 200 customers who quickly ordered up the RCZ Limited Edition were recently given their cars by Peugeot Sport's Le Mans racing team.

After teasing the 308-based RCZ as a concept back in 2007, Peugeot revealed the production version at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. To celebrate its 200th anniversary, the automaker also revealed a limited edition RCZ model. Limited to 200 examples, all RCZ Limited Edition cars receive a special white paint, black 19-inch wheels, and carbon fiber trim. All cars also make use of Peugeot’s 156-horsepower, 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4, mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

According to Peugeot, all 200 examples were spoken for in the course of 48 hours. Customers hail from 10 different European countries, although 26 of the 200 are from France. Peugeot invited all 200 to the Circuit Paul Ricard near Marseilles, France, where its Le Mans team is currently testing the 908 HDi FAP in advance of the 24-hour endurance race. Owners were given a chance to meet the drivers, and were flown in a helicopter around the race circuit.

Don’t look for any RCZs to be lapping the Circuit De La Sarthe anytime soon, but do expect Peugeot to enter the new coupe into various motorsports events. First up is the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, where the automaker will field two race-prepped RCZs. Like the 908s, these will both be diesel-powered, utilizing Peugeot’s 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-four-cylinder engines.
