Ferrari calls this the 599 Hy-KERS vettura laboratorio, those last two words meaning "experimental vehicle." It's an experiment involving a form of KERS, the kinetic energy recovery system that Formula One toyed with in 2009, grew to hate, and then ditched. If premium sports cars are heading down the hybrid route, this is how they'll do it, by adding another 100 hp (to the standard 620-hp 6.0-liter V12 in this instance), courtesy of an electric motor, cutting emissions by 35 percent and lowering the center of gravity by placing a lithium-ion battery pack on the underside of the floorpan. Doesn't seem too bad, does it?
